Music is an integral part of the worship at St. George’s.
Each of our youth choirs offer their voices to enhance our worship at least once each liturgical season with the highlights of each year being their musical leadership during our 4:00 P.M. Christmas Eve Celebration, our 9:00 A.M. Easter Morning Service and our Class Day Celebration at the end of the Church School year. For our youth we offer three choirs:
- The Cherub Choir (first graders) rehearse at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesdays, September—May.
- The Junior Choir (second-fifth graders) rehearse at 4:30 P.M. on Wednesday, September—May.
- Teens ’n’ Tunes (TNT) is for students in middle school and high school. They rehearse at 9:00 A.M. on Sunday mornings.
The Adult Choir has the important of role of supporting our congregational singing during the 11:00 A.M. service on Sunday mornings (10:00 A.M. in the summer). Each Sunday this group also provides a wonderful anthem during the offertory chosen from a rich repertoire of sacred music. In addition to supporting our worship on Sunday mornings, the choir provides special music for Advent Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve and Good Friday. The choral music selected is always of the highest quality. For example, on past Good Fridays the choir has offered requiems by Faure, Mozart and Brahms. The Choir also makes itself available for funerals and weddings.
Rehearsals are held from September through May on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 P.M. In the summer, the choir rehearses before the 10:00 A.M. service.
