St. George's is getting a facelift!

Due to the generosity of the people of St. George's, we are getting a much needed renovation.  In order to keep you updated, we will be posting here as each phase is completed.

Beacon Security - a new fire alarm system and security system has been installed throughout the church enabling us to secure the building and its contents.

A & B Heating and Cooling Co. - We have all new units in the Sanctuary, the administrative offices, the upstairs offices, the classroom wing and the Parish Hall.  A new platform was built to accommodate all the new condensers as required by code.  The ductwork has been cleaned in all areas of the building as well as professionally sealed.

Lowe's - a drop down staircase has been installed to access the AC units above the classroom area as requested by the city inspector.

Bankston Lumber - a total of 43 windows on both floors of the classroom wing have been completely replaced by Jerry.  Replacement windows are clad on the outside and wood on the inside.  They are double paned and manufactured by Marvin Windows.

AGS Waterproofing - the Parlor windows have been sealed and the glass in the door to the office sealed as well.

Jerry Hardin - Jerry and his crew have been busy working on all the maintenance issues in and around the building.  He has uncovered more problems than we anticipated so it was a little slow going at first.  Here is a list of what he has done:

>The water pipes leading from the Parlor's kitchen had to be dug out and replaced completely as the old conduits had totally collapsed causing the water to back up around the condenser just outside the kitchen/sacristy area.

>A new sump pump was installed in the drain at the bottom of the outside stairwell leading to the Parish Hall.  Water was collecting in this area and upon inspection, Jerry found the pump to be burnt out and the drain closed, collecting mud, rocks, leaves and debris.

>Security lights were installed in the alleyway between the offices and the classrooms to deter break ins as well as loitering at night.

>In order to install the new AC condensers,  Jerry had to bring the electrical wiring up to code by installing a new electrical panel with all new wiring and breakers.

>The Broad street entrance to the downstairs has been caulked and painted and new light fixtures installed.  Wood was replaced as needed.

>All of the wood around the outside of the building has been caulked or replaced and painted.

> A new motor for the exhaust fan in the Parish Hall kitchen was installed.  The stove is fairly new and will not be replaced.

> The courtyard entry doors have been stripped and re-stained.

> CEI - A new audio system has been installed.

> The upstairs classrooms and choir rooms have received new ceilings, lighting and electrical outlets.  The hallway has has also been renovated with a new ceiling and lighting.

> The Parish Hall has had all ceiling tiles replaced.

> Battery backup exit lights have been installed as well as emergency spot lights in the stairwells.

> The crack in the stairwell on the Broad Street side of the building has been repaired and the hallway painted.

> New replacement doors have been installed on the back entry and the Broad street entry.

> The Narthex has been sanded, plastered and repainted

The office entry door will be stripped and stained when the weather is mild again.
